Jacki McCartt!

Memorial Student Ministries welcomes Interim Youth Leader Jacki McCartt.

Jacki will be working on a part-time basis beginning in November and continuing through the end of the 2009-10 school year.  She previously served Memorial as a Youth Intern by leading a small group Bible study with junior and    senior high girls. Jacki is a graduate of Sullivan East High School in Bluff City, TN and she is presently a sophomore majoring in Social Work at East Tennessee State University.  Having grown up in a Christian home, Jacki accepted Christ at a young age at her home church of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN.  In addition to her ministry experience as a youth intern, she has served as a camp counselor at Holston Presbytery Camp in Banner Elk, NC as well as a “Class 13” Ministry Team Small Group Leader geared toward college freshmen with the Well Campus Ministry in Johnson City.

Alex Henthorne-Intern  Media & Sound

Alex Henthorne is one of our very own, he is a product of  our student ministries here at Memorial.  Alex is continuing his time serving the Lord while working on our student ministries staff. He serves as lead of all media and sound productions for our student activities.
Alex is in his second year at East Tennessee State University where he is studying electronical engineering. Though Alex is mostly a behind the scenes kind of guy, he loves the Lord and loves to see other students come to know the King.

Bob Thomas - Student Discipleship Teacher/ Elder

I was pretty wild, became a Christian at 20, married a gorgeous gal 5 years later who had also been part of the counter culture movement. We have been happily married for 30 great years.

We married with the purpose of translating the bible for a tribal group and in 1983 took our 14 month old son to Papua New Guinea. We weren't able to finish the translation because of some serious illnesses, so a Korean couple took over for us and lived in the house I had built. The translation was finished in 2008 and my son and I went back for the dedication of the finished bible - amazing experience. I had another son who was born in Papua New Guinea and they both live in Austin. They both love the Lord and are very successful in their careers. Neither are married, but my oldest has a pretty serious girlfriend.

I'm an elder at Memorial Presbyterian  I have been studying the bible, theology and philosophy for 37 years. I have an insatiable appetite for truth and love to teach. I have some of my own theories on the meaning of glory in the bible and am working on a book. My favorite sport is golf and I love to play.

If I only had one quick piece of advice to give to someone, it would be: "Keep your eyes on Jesus."
